Inspiring combinations of Technology and Art

Engineering and art were not always such separate disciplines. Leonardo da Vinci, often remembered for paintings such as the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper, was also a brilliant inventor, architect, and military engineering genius. Hundreds of years ago engineering didn’t exist with art, but as education has become more and more specialized, engineering and art have drifted apart.

Our goal is to highlight modern combinations engineering and art to demonstrate the interconnected nature of STEM fields, artistic creativity, and innovation.

Hi, I’m Kate

As a child art was always my favorite subject in school, but given my aptitude for math and science I became a mechanical engineer. Then as a senior in mechanical engineer at Colorado School of Mines, I rediscovered my love of art and ever since them I’ve been consistently fascinated but the connections between engineering and art.

I currently work as an engineer traveling the world around, but when I'm not at work you'll most likely to find me...

  • Creating digital art on my iPad

  • Adding another layer to an oil painting

  • Tinkering on my latest project

  • Traveling the world

  • On top of a mountain- Skiing or Hiking

  • Listening to podcasts-  How I Built This or TED Radio Hour

  • Reading
